Health and Wellness Services

Big Lakes has a registered nurse and two licensed practical nurses on-site during regular business hours to provide health care and medical intervention on an ongoing basis. They are available to both clients and staff for emergency situations such as diabetic reactions, seizures, lacerations, etc. Our nursing staff is involved with medication management, maintaining dietary needs, and wellness monitoring. They also provide nursing services in our Residential Living Program, where there is a nurse on-call around the clock. In addition, they furnish valuable health education classes, maintain medical records and client medical histories and administer medications and inoculations, including the Hepatitis B inoculation for both clients and staff.

Transportation

Transportation is provided to adult clients, as well as the general public, on a modified fixed route system at a nominal charge. Service hours are 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. available Monday through Friday in our 4-county area.
